funding for my organization

Hi my name is Julian, and my club wants to host an event. We need funding and are in the process of writing a bill. I have a few questions about funding and the whole bill process.

Is there some kind of due date that I need to be wary of? Our event is in April, and I was wondering if bills are still submitable so funding can be allocated at this time. Also, would my group have to pay for the event and then SGA funds would just reimburse us or would we get the money before then (let's assume that the bill is submitted next week and passes in the most reasonable amount of time--the packet from the finance office says 19 days)?

I also do not know how to submit my bill online; do I have to email my submission form and draft of bill to the representatives authoring the bill? Also, should I prepare a hardcopy of the bill and submit it to someone in person?

Hi Julian,
You may certainly submit a bill sometime in the next two months for your event in April. Typically, we request organizations to submit bills *at least* 2-3 weeks in advance. When a bill is submitted, it sits in new business for a week, and then is considered the following week by both the Graduate Student Senate and the Undergraduate House of Representatives.

Usually, organizations receive their funds from reimbursements, however, there are certain cases where various other means of purchasing can be arranged, depending on the particulars of the line items for the event. Please feel free to contact our Joint Finance Chair Varun Prasad, at varunprasad@gatech.edu, to find out more about the funding process.

Also, feel free to contact myself, Sarang Shah at sarang.shah@gatech.edu, or any of the other representatives at sga.gatech.edu to help you draft and submit your bill. There is no need for a hard copy of the bill, just contact one of the representatives to help guide you through the rest of the process.

I hope this has helped Julian, and feel free to contact any of us again if you have anymore questions about SGA.
