Joint Allocation to Swordfish Underwater Hockey Club
The newly-chartered underwater hockey club is looking for some start-up expenses. The hockey pucks scrape over the floor of the pool and need to be replaced on a yearly basis. This includes training equipment, which would be used to run drills in underwater hockey. These included barriers for aiming and refining puck skills.
The team also intends to travel to a tournament in Fairfax, Virginia (1272 miles round trip). Entry fees are per person.
The organization also would like to request funding for a technique ad to help recruit new members.

Joint Allocation to Georgia Tech Table Tennis Association
1) Coaching stipend: This amount was denied during the budget because GTTTA was not a competitive student organization in 2007. Since, GTTTA is a competitive sports club now at Georgia Tech, this bill is to get the amounts for the coach reimbursed.
2) ACUI tournament: The ACUI tournament is organized each year in Orlando, Florida to scout out the best individual talent in the southeast. The best of every school compete against each other in singles/doubles matches and the winners qualify for the Nationals Tournament in April.
3) 2009 Collegiate Table Tennis Championship: The Collegiate Table Tennis Championships is the premiere college table tennis event in North America. The top teams from each division qualify for this tournament during the Regionals tournament held throughout the year. The Georgia Tech Table Tennis mens team topped the Georgia Division to qualify for this tournament. The womens finished second in the same Division to qualify.

Joint Allocation to the Chess Club
The Chess Club will be going to the Georgia Inter-Collegiate Championship. The Georgia Inter-collegiate championship will be taking place on Saturday, February 28th. This tournament is our primary competition in the spring. We have won the last two state championships and are hoping for a third this year. We will be taking 3 teams of 4 players to the tournament. The cost is $50 per team entry fee for a total of $150.
We are considering going to an inter-collegiate tournament, the Western Kentucky Open, in March 2009. It will have some of the most competitive teams in the country including University of Texas at Dallas
and UMBC. We are looking to take 4 people for the team portion of the tournament. In order to go to the tournament we need funding
as the travel expenses are high. We are asking for $620 total. Entry fee for the tournament is $55 a person along with $400 for two
hotel rooms.
We have not asked or spent any SGA funds for the last 4 years for maintaining and replacing our equipment, chess sets, clocks, etc.
Our sets are starting to fall apart and several of our clocks are broken. We are asking for approximately $500 for capital expenditures. A standard tournament chess clock costs $100.

Allocation to Academic Affairs Committee for Student Government Association Progress and Service Award
The Student Government Progress and Service Award is a successor to the Student Government Honors Recognition Program. The key difference to this award will be that, all Georgia Tech Students will be eligible, unless you are affiliated with the Undergraduate House of Representatives. The award will serve two purposes. First, it rewards students who exemplify the ideals of Progress and Service in their Georgia Tech careers. Secondly, it promotes the Student Government Association in its aims to reach the student body of Georgia Tech.
Administratively, there will be an application process, an interview before a panel, made up of the Academic Affairs Committee and a delegation from the UHR. That panel will pick the finalists and make a recommendation to the UHR, who will pick the final three recipients. The recipients will receive their award at the year-end Student Government Banquet.

AMSA Third Annual Pre-Health Conference Event Funding
Arranging the best circumstances for students to connect with medical school representatives requires a great deal of expenses. Setting up health workshops that cover topics such as financial aid and trends in admission is not a problem. However, as with any large conference, simple provisions ranging from name tags to rentals is quite a load. We want to defray the costs from our students as much as possible, and therefore ask for SGA’s assistance!
